Reference and research requests may be submitted to the Library via phone, e-mail or mail.  To e-mail your request, click here.  Requests will be answered in the order in which they are received.

Reference Databases purchased by the Baker Free Library

The Library offers reference databases to patrons with valid library cards.  To utilize any of the following databases, please have your entire library barcode number available.  If you need assistance to determine your full library card number (which is 14 digits long), please call (603) 224-7113 or e-mail bowbakerfreelibrary@comcast.net.
 
 
 
Learning Express Library provides free online access to important academic practice tests such as the GED, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, SAT, ACT, and AP tests in Biology, Calculus, English Literature, and U.S. History.  There are also online tutorials for job and career help (resume writing, job interviewing, etc.), practice tests for professional and certification exams, and information about the U.S. Citizenship test.  You can access this database by clicking the logo above.  New users will need to create a login: use the first thirteen digits of your library card barcode number, and then create a password and click Continue. At the prompt, click on Baker Free Library, which will verify your library card number.  Please write down your password so that you can revisit the site! 
 
 
 
ReferenceUSA is a database of millions of U.S. businesses and consumers, healthcare providers,and Canadians businesses and households.  This database is highly useful for job seekers, since it allows users to limit searches to specific geographic towns and cities.  To use this database, click on the logo above, enter your entire library bar code number, and click "Go" (do not hit your enter key). Downloads are limited to 25 records per session.  You will need to exit ReferenceUSA, login again, and create a new search to continue downloading records after the 25 limit is reached.

The New Hampshire State Library provides our library with access to a collection of databases as a part of the NHewLINK project. These three databases can be accessed through the links below.
 
EBSCO online database
This database contains access to magazine and other resources for children and adults on a variety of topics, and includes searchable interfaces such as:

To access the EBSCO database, click here.  Make sure that you have your entire 14 digit library card barcode number ready, because you will be asked to enter it for access to EBSCO.

Heritage Quest online database
This is a genealogy database with census, government, and other record access.  Click here for the link to go to the login page for this database.  You will need the first 13 digits of your 14-digit library card barcode to access this site.  If you have any other questions or problems, please contact the library using the Contact Us page.
 
NewsBank online database
This database provides access to electronic versions of the New Hampshire Union Leader and the Concord Monitor, as well as 29 other news magazines published in the United States.  To access the login page for this database, click here.  You will need to enter your 14-digit library card number to gain access. If you have any other questions or problems, please contact the library using the Contact Us page.
