Planning a Vacation this Summer?
If you are planning to travel this summer, there is no better place to start your planning process than the library! We have an extensive collection of travel guides to countries all over the world! For those planning to stay put in New Hampshire this summer, we also offer guides for New England as well as many other destinations in the area!
We also have a selection of Language CD Courses, which are an excellent learning tool for those wanting to learn the basics of communicating in a foreign country. Currently we have language courses in Italian, Japanese, French, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Russian, Korean, and Spanish. If you start now, you could be speaking a new language by summer!

Friends of the Baker Free Library $2/Bag Booksale
Announcing the return of the Friend's of the BFL's $2/Bag Book Sale! From May 1st to June 22nd stop by the basement of the library during library hours to fill a plastic bag of books for only $2.00.
Although we no are no longer accepting books for the Friends of the BFL's book sale, due to plans moving forward to renovate the library's lower level, there are still hundreds of books for sale to choose from! Those of you who have not checked out the vast amount of books we have to offer should visit our lower level next time you visit the library! For more information, visit the Friends Book sale page.

The Friends of the Baker Free Library is pleased to offer museum
passes to eight institutions in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, including:

Squam Lakes Natural Science Center (Holderness, NH).

There is no fee to borrow the passes, but the borrower must have a
current Baker Free Library card in good standing and be at least 18
years of age. One pass is allowed per family per day. We
are allowed to distribute only one pass per institution per day except
for the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, which allows us to
distribute two passes per day. Details about each institution's passes are listed on our museum passes page. If you'd like to request a pass, call the library at 224-7113!
Downloadable music available
Freegal is a downloadable music service containing 3.4 million songs in mp3 DRM-free format that works with all devices. Best of all, patrons keep any music they download. This service uses a token system where each card is allocated 3 tokens (or songs) per week.
To access Freegal, please log in to the Library Catalog, and then scroll down to click on the Freegal logo. A redirect page will appear - simply click on the redirect link and you will be logged in to use the service. Reminder: if your library card has expired, or has unpaid fines, access to these services will be blocked. Please contact the library at 224-7113 or bowbakerfreelibrary@comcast.net for questions about access.

Library Board of Trustees Monthly Meeting
Next meeting on Wednesday 5/22/2013 at 4:45 p.m.
The Baker Free Library Board of Trustees meets the second Wednesday every month except July or when scheduling conflicts arise. The next special trustee meeting will be held on Wednesday May 22, 2013 at 4:45 p.m. in the library's Meeting Room. The next regular monthly meeting will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. in the library's Meeting Room. A special meeting of the Trustees will also occur on Wednesday June 12, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the library's Meeting Room (this is a joint meeting with the Lower Level Renovation Committee and Friends of the Baker Free Library).
